Are Nightshade Vegetables Affecting Your Health?

Nightshades are a family of plants that contain specific alkaloid compounds. It can cause joint pain and inflammation in certain people.

Nightshade Vegetables:
• Ashwagandha
• Bell peppers
• Bush tomato
• Eggplant
• Goji berries
• Hot peppers (such as chili peppers, jalapenos, habaneros, chili-based spices, red pepper, cayenne
• Paprika
• Pepinos
• Pimentos
• Potatoes (excludes sweet potatoes)
• Tomatillos
• Tomatoes

Try avoiding these foods for at least 2 solid weeks and see if any inflammatory symptoms or chronic pains improve. Slowly, add back in 1 nightshade at a time and see how you feel. If they are still affecting your health in a negative way, you should avoid them the majority of the time.
